Prime Day VR Headset Deals

We think this Prime Day will bring some excellent deals on VR headsets. The recent announcement of the Apple Vision Pro has made us realise that it's okay to be excited about VR again, and that's why we've been scouting for the best prices and deals on this virtual technology. What we're on the lookout for especially though is a price cut on the latest PSVR2.

The Meta Quest 2 (Oculus Quest 2) is another popular VR headset as well as the latest Meta Quest Pro headset with a much higher price tag. Of course, you don't need the best and most expensive VR headsets to experience the thrill of virtual reality. And as these newer models are launched, we're bound to see some amazing discounts on older devices such as the original PlayStation VR, plus classics like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Be sure to sign up for a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial if you aren't already a Prime member for the best possible savings and discounts.

These are the best value deals we've found currently on VR headsets to save you scrolling, but if you're after a specific device then be sure to use the handy section tab on the right to navigate through this deals roundup. These discounts are great if you're after a headset right now, but we expect to see much better savings next week when Prime Day really kicks off.

At launch, the larger storage model of the Oculus (Meta) Quest 2 was priced at $429.99, so the price has come down to a record-low, but it might be a while longer before we see it drop further below the $300 range.

Need to know

What is Prime Day and what can I expect?

Prime Day is an Amazon sale event that will take place for 48 hours only on Tuesday, July 11-12 2023 with amazing deals and savings to be had both exclusively for Prime members, as well as casual Amazon shoppers.

The best part about Amazon Prime Day events is that they often encourage other retailers to get involved too, and reduce their prices so as not to lose out on any sales to Amazon during the limited-time event through competitive pricing.

Which is the best VR headset?

There's no right or wrong answer to this question as it all depends on factors such as your interests and budget. We do have a useful best VR headsets for art or gaming buyers guide to help you make an informed choice, but ultimately the best VR headset is one that's affordable and offers an amazing virtual reality experience to whisk you away from the mundane.

Popular headsets that consumers are buzzed about right now include the Meta Quest 2 (formerly known as the Oculus Quest 2 - they're the same!) as well as the latest Meta Quest Pro headset which comes with a much higher price tag in exchange for advanced specs that are said to offer a "mixed reality" experience with eye-tracking. We're yet to test this one out for ourselves but our sister site Tom's Guide described it as unintuitive

What's the difference between VR headsets and AR glasses?

The key difference between virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) is that the latter involves merging our world with the virtual by bringing fictional characters and environments into our real-world spaces through the use of our camera phones and other mediums - think Pokemon Go, for example.

Virtual reality headsets however are slightly different in that they transport us into new realms and virtual spaces that are totally immersive and in most cases different from the world that we know. VR games are a great way to fully escape and divulge into one of your favourite franchises and feel like you're really part of a game or experience.
